This traditional brewery produces "La Brigantine" beer (amber, blonde, brown, white, red, triple and IPA).
Ivan Lambert, a brewing engineer by training, learned the trade at the Meurice Institute in Brussels. He set up La Brasserie de la Côte de Jade in 2003 with his wife Anne. The brewery revives traditional Belgian brewing methods. They named their beer "La Brigantine", after a ship's sail, to "keep the seafaring spirit", says Ivan.
"Every day, we strive to produce craft beers that offer our customers a real moment of pleasure and excitement for the taste buds. All our double-fermented beers are 100% pure malt, unfiltered and unpasteurised, with no colouring agents or preservatives.
Our range of beers has expanded over the years. We now have seven different types of beer: white, blonde, triple blonde, IPA (Indian pale ale), amber, brown and red.
Each beer has its own personality
Light and refreshing, with a hint of spice: white Brigantine
A beer with character, offering a strong bitterness and hoppy aromas: Brigantine IPA
Round, mellow, delicately bitter, with hints of copper: Brigantine amber
Delicate and strong at the same time (8% alcohol), with a golden colour and generous bitterness: Brigantine blonde triple.
Visit the Brasserie de la Côte de Jade
Ivan opens the doors of his brewery from April to August and offers guided tours.
These tours, which last around 1 hour, are an opportunity to follow the beer's journey, from the arrival of the raw materials to bottling. You'll learn how malt, hops and water are transformed into beer.
At the end of the tour, you'll have the chance to taste some of the brewery's beers free of charge and discover the different flavours and aromas.
