Lecture: "Rosa Bonheur and nineteenth-century realist landscape" by Sophie de Gourcy, national lecturer.
This talk looks at Rosa Bonheur's role in the development of realist landscape painting in the 19th century. Through a selection of works, she analyses the way in which the artist inscribed her practice in a dual tradition: that of the rigorous observation of nature and that of a committed realism, breaking with academic conventions. The study also highlights the singularity of his approach to the landscape representations of his time.
