Description

At the top of a hill, the Priory remains the last witness of the glorious past of Châtenois.
Wife of Gérard of Alsace, Count of Châtenois and first Duke of Lorraine, Hadwide de Namur founded a Benedictine Priory dedicated to Saint Peter and dependent on the Abbey of Toul around 1069. Several times destroyed and rebuilt, this imposing building formed a main building with two wings that joined the church. Today only one wing remains. Adjacent to the church and dating from the last reconstruction after a fire in the 18th century, this part was still used as a presbytery until recently.
Now, throughout the year, the Priory offers various events, permanent and temporary exhibitions.
In addition, a walk in the Haut Bourg district of Châtenois will allow you to discover an incredible view of the surrounding countryside.
