Le Papalagui is a book by Erich Sheurmann published in 1920, in which the words of Touïavii, a tribal chief from the Samoan Islands, were collected.
In Papalagui (the word for foreigner), this man of the Pacific tells his people about his trip to Europe (at the beginning of the 20th century), sifting through the cultural differences he observed. This view of our society's way of life makes surprisingly good sense, and in many ways this text, written over a century ago, is still relevant today.
At the time, this account of a voyage across the oceans to the other side of the world was passed on orally. In keeping with this tradition, it seems only natural that this story should be told to you on a sailing boat.
In contact with the Loire and its banks, come and discover an astonishing text that will bring you back to dry land in different shoes, having perhaps shaken a few certainties...
