An assiduous skateboarder in his youth, it was perseverance, the need to go beyond limits and the search for balance in this sport that led Benoit Canteteau to dance and the movement arts. In his latest creation, he shares his experience by going back and forth between the dancer he is today and the skateboarder of 20 years ago.
What we talk about when we talk about... is a journey into the land of empathy, sharing the reality of a teenage skateboarder.
He is here, on stage, 25 years later. He does a series of tricks on his board and tells stories, some personal, others about his generation and skateboarding.
Little by little, the almost 40-year-old performer shows us the teenager he once was, the teenager he still is, and the stubbornness it takes to keep starting over after falling.
This is the path he took in learning to skateboard, building his personality and becoming a dancer, a path on which he crossed paths with Samuel Beckett and his famous "miss better".
