At the entrance of the Castle of Senzeilles, you will find a plaque in honour of Simone Gerhebaye-Lehouck, a great historical figure of Cerfontaine.
A big figure of the local Resistance, a prisoner of war during World War II, Mrs Gerhebaye-Lehouck was also mayor of Senzeilles for more than 30 years. Furthermore, she was one of the first female Senators of Belgium.
Another plaque, in honour of her husband, Julien Lehouck, who died in captivity, was unveiled in June 2025.
