Around 1000, a castle already existed here. At the time, it was composed of a big dungeon and, later, had three 'pepperpot' towers (called thus because of the shape of the roofs). Today, there are two towers left.
Modified throughout the centuries, it once belonged to the Gerbehaye-Lehouck family, who hid a Jewish family in their home before helping them escape into free country; and then used the cellars and many underground tunnels to smuggle food and materials to the resistance hidden in the nearby woods.
