Description

Situated to "the col du jaillet", it marked at the beginning of our era the border between Ceutrons and Vienneses ( Allobroges). In 1723m of height, it symbolizes the limit of province of the Roman Empire.
This border of granite, set up by Romain as 74 after Jesus Christ, marks the border of two Celtic tribes: Ceutrons and Allobroges. The inscription representing above "FINES" comes from " ad fine " which means " In the limits " in Latin. 2 other borders, the one at the col of the avenaz and the other one in the col of small Croise Baulet.
These borders were classified historic monuments. The plan had to follow then the chain of Aravis, passing by the point of l'Etale, le Mont Charvin...
