Located close to the sea, north of Bayeux, the Benedictine Abbey of Longues, founded in the 12th century, is a timeless witness to religious life in Normandy, as well as to religious architecture and decorative arts.
Undergoing restoration since the 20th century, it has become, thanks to its successive courageous and passionate owners, a jewel of Normandy heritage, classified as a Historic Monument in its entirety in 2006.
Selected to represent the Normandy region in the Loto du Patrimoine 2019, the funds raised on this occasion have enabled the reinstallation in 2021 of a framework and roof on the choir of the abbey church, as well as the renovation of the roof of the monks? refectory scheduled for mid-2022 for a restoration spread over 2019 to 2023.
Visitors will be able to witness first-hand this exceptional restoration project in Normandy.
