The church of Thiepval

The Saint-Martin church in Thiepval, in the Somme, is part of the Notre-Dame des Hauts de l'Ancre parish in Mailly-Maillet, in the Vallée d'Ancre sector of the diocese of Amiens, It is distinguished by its war memorial integrated into one of its facades. 

A plaque honors Adrian Carton de Wiart, born on May 5, 1880 in Brussels ans died on June 5, 1963 in Ireland. Officer in the British Army, he received the Victoria Cross for bravery. Having served in the Boer War, the First and Second World Wars, he was wounded eight times, losing an eye and a hand, and survived two plane crashes, earning the nickname "the unkillable".
