The Pigeonnier refuge, perched at the end of the Crête de l'Orient, is located on the edge of the Valgaudemar valley, in the Ecrins massif.
The Pigeonnier refuge, perched at 2430 metres, can be the goal of the day or the stage for the next day's race.The playground around the refuge is magical for lovers of wild places. Its location is ideal for hikers, who can discover it by walking along a loop of lakes, rhododendrons, waterfalls, chamois and ibex. The refuge and its surroundings will therefore appeal to families looking to immerse themselves in nature.It is also popular with mountaineers, to whom it allows access to the Rouies (snow and rock races), the Central or Western peaks of the Vaccivier, Mount Gioberney, and many other alpine and wild crossings. The comfort of this refuge seduces with its many advantages: cosy dormitories with duvets, dry toilets, hot showers, spacious and bright dining room, stove for wet days and a warm wood look.
