The mine museum val de fer

Description

In Neuves-Maisons, the mine museum Val de Fer is the memory of the miners and is situated in a clearing of 5 hectares that overlooks the Moselle river. A gallery museum of 1000 meters, an iron ore stock in a huge gallery – recently extracted – and an old building “Zublin” from the thirties where the iron ore was put into tip trucks before transport to the blast furnaces.
Guided tours by retired miners of the site.

Free walk with viewpoint indicators and descriptive signs (about 3 hours).
Guided tours by the “Gueules Jaunes” (retired miners) about an hour for the underground route.
Green scenery in this beech grove of the “Forêt de Haye”.
