The Domaine de Beauregard, located on the outskirts of Hérouville-Saint-Clair on the banks of the Caen Canal, comprises 23 hectares of meadows and woodland. It includes a park, château and outbuildings.
The Beauregard estate belonged to Colbert's fiefdom. In the mid-19th century, the property was acquired by Jules Lecesne, a shipowner from Le Havre, who turned it into a holiday resort. The troubadour-style château (typical of 19th-century architecture in Normandy) was completed in 1864. The estate suffered heavy damage during the Second World War, after which it was bought back by the State and made available to the ORTF, which used it in the summer for its summer camps.
Bought back by the commune of Hérouville-Saint-Clair in 1977, it gradually became a venue for cultural and sporting activities (water sports center, accrobranche, paintball, Ornavik park). Since July 2009, the château park has been home to the Beauregard Festival.
