Lion-sur-Mer already had a fortified castle in the 11th century, built by the de Moyon family. The present 16th-century château replaces the former fortress. It is partly Renaissance.
It features a charming pavilion with pyramidal roofs and corbelled turrets at the corners, a cylindrical tower and long chimneys.
Other features include a chapel, a wine press, the 15th-century cellars that sheltered the inhabitants during the Normandy landings, the orangery and the greenhouses.
