The Manoir de Cacharat is a typical 17th-century manor house built by a wealthy Protestant peasant family. The manor farms of the Bessin region all have the same characteristics: a courtyard surrounded by the buildings needed to run the farm, and a dwelling for the inhabitants, all forming a closed, defensive ensemble. These farms were built by wealthy farmers or small nobility between the 16th and 17th centuries.
The 17th-century triple gate consists of two pedestrian doors, one of which was blocked as soon as it was built. The middle door is the main entrance. All doors are surmounted by imposing semi-circular pediments.
