Société Métallurgique de Normandie (SMN) was founded on May 21, 1910. It was involved in a variety of metallurgical activities, including the manufacture of steel, rolled products, steel beams and more. Until 1993, it played an important role in supplying metal materials to regional and national industry.
The former main cooling tower has been preserved as an important emblem of this working-class past. Nicknamed "the cauldron" by the workers, the tower rises to a height of 56 meters.
