In Amfreville, the history of the D-Day landings unfolds as you wander through the streets! This 2-kilometre commemorative trail, featuring eight stops, traces the village’s strategic role during the Battle of Normandy.
Starting from the town hall, this walk – which takes about 50 minutes – immerses you in the events of June 1944. Situated near Pegasus Bridge, Amfreville was notably the scene of operations carried out by British paratroopers and the men of the Kieffer Commando.
From the church to Place Kieffer, via the commandos’ farm, Le Petit Plain and the hamlet of Oger, each stop recounts a chapter of this history. The trail ends with a panoramic view of the Bay of the Orne and the sea.
An open-air walk, combining local heritage with the memory of the D-Day landings, offering a fresh perspective on Amfreville.
