A new fishing area has just been created in the heart of Val d’Ajol!
Initiated by the Vosges Fishing Federation and the AAPPMA of Val d’Ajol and Girmont, this new site is the first in the Vosges to receive the “Label Découverte Pêche” (Discovery Fishing Label). This distinction is awarded to locations that offer beginners the best possible conditions to learn the sport—ensuring accessibility, safety, and a good chance of making those all-important first catches.
The Communauté de Communes Porte des Vosges Méridionales and the municipality of Le Val d’Ajol have provided financial support to bring this beautiful project to life, enhancing the region’s riverbanks and waterways while also developing a high-quality tourism offering.
“Discovery” fishing areas are designed to introduce beginners to fishing in ideal conditions—offering easy access, safety, and a high chance of catching fish. These sites are typically located near lakes, or occasionally along rivers or small channels, and are modest in size. Ideally situated near populated areas, they provide easy access for all and optimal fishing comfort.
These areas are essential tools for outreach and group activities, and must meet certain standards for hosting groups (such as shelter, sanitation, and safety). They also follow specific regulations, including single-rod fishing and mandatory catch-and-release practices.
