It was first built in the late 11th century, around 1080. It was then rebuilt at the beginning of the 16th century by one of the lords of "Bois de Belle Femme". The nave was completed around 1520 by the Seigneur de Thorigné, Sieur du Bois Nerbert. It was damaged during the Wars of Religion (vault burnt down) and during the Revolution (crest hammered and mutilated). It now houses the Saint-Denis reliquary (16th century, containing fragments of Saint-Denis' bones) and the True Cross reliquary (which contains a tiny piece of wood from the Chris Cross on Golgotha in a closed glass case, even though its true origin is still disputed).
