The story of Biscuiterie Jeannette began in 1850 with the creation of a small cookie factory by Monsieur Mollier. In the first half of the 20th century, Lucien Jeannette came up with the idea of the madeleine. The cookie factory's heyday came in the 70s and 80s, with nearly 40% of the French cookie market.

Numerous resales of Normandy's oldest cookie factory led to a steady decline in business. In December 2013, Biscuiterie Jeannette went into liquidation and all employees were made redundant. Around twenty employees decided to occupy the factory to prevent it from being dismantled and to look for a potential buyer. This struggle paid off, and a participative financing campaign saved the cookie factory.

In September 2015, Biscuiterie Jeannette relaunched its new production of high-quality artisanal madeleines. After a few upheavals, the history of one of France's oldest cookie factories lives on, as does its know-how. Today, the traditional scallop-shaped madeleine with pure Isigny PDO butter is the pride and joy of an entire region.
