The Gallo-Roman remains of Ville-sur-Lumes are located mainly at a place called ‘Les Sarteaux’, to the east of the village centre, which also extends into the neighbouring commune of Saint-Laurent. This archaeological site corresponds to a vicus, a secondary settlement from the Gallo-Roman period, organised around a fanum, a temple in the Celtic tradition.
Excavations have revealed water collection and drainage structures, testifying to the ingenuity of the hydraulic systems of the period.
