St. Peter and St. Paul church

Église de Haybes
Credit : Droits libres

Description

The former church was destroyed during the tragic days of the village in August 1914.
The present church dates back to the beginning of the 19th century and was inaugurated in 1927.
The plans were given by the architect Lemasson and the work was executed by Gustave Despas.
It has a Latin cross plan and is built in Haybes' arkose rubble.
Only the corner chains, cornices and bays are made of limestone ashlar.

The building is dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul, whose two colossal statues can be seen at the crossing of the transept.
They could come from the old church of 1885.

Please note:
Church open to the public only during religious services.
