The Rocher des Hirondelles is a majestic limestone cliff with an aerial silhouette, dominating the banks of the Valserine.
Here, the river has cut deeply into the rocks, sculpting a remarkable valley in the Mijoux-Chézery valley. Its name could be a reference to the rock swallows, veritable acrobats of the sky, who love to nest on this type of rock face. Once common in the Jura in the 19th century, these elegant birds have gradually recolonized the massif since the 1980s.
