This boulder is an erratic block transported by the Rhône glacier around 15,000 years ago.
It seems that the main face of the boulder has been partially flattened and two series of small holes have been dug into it, forming a cross.
The boulder may have been placed here in memory of a local resident who had an accident on the way down from the quarry.
The site is on the list of listed natural sites in the Ain department. It is also listed at European level.
