Céline Mollon and her team welcome you to this ‘grocery store, restaurant and catering service’ located in the heart of the village of La Balme-les-Grottes, a stone's throw from the Grottes de la Balme caves.
The products are selected from 22 committed local producers.
When you walk through the door of Marché Balmolan, you'll meet Céline, a passionate young woman who is committed to cooking up delicious dishes using local produce.
The menu, which changes with the seasons and daily supplies, gives pride of place to local specialities, including the famous Cocotte Iséroise: pork cooked at low temperature with organic potatoes, cep sauce and walnuts, all gratinated over a wood fire!
There is also something to satisfy vegetarians and vegans.
The restaurant is located in the heart of the grocery store, between the wine, local spice, jam, craft beer, spread and cheese sections. In season, you can also enjoy the outdoor terrace overlooking the cliffs of Isle-Crémieu.
The bread that accompanies the menus and is also available for purchase is baked every Sunday over a wood fire. An oven is installed in front of the grocery store.
It is also possible to stop at the Balmolan market for a sweet break, as the grocery store also serves as a tea room. You can enjoy one of the many homemade pastries accompanied by tea, coffee or even a beer.
For cyclists, hikers or visitors passing through the Balcons du Dauphiné, freshly made sandwiches and gourmet platters are also available, featuring seasonal produce.
Located close to ViaRhôna, Marché Balmolan has been awarded the Accueil Vélo label. A range of services are available to make your cycling trip easier:
- Dedicated parking in front of the establishment
- Battery charging for your bikes or phones
- Option to leave your luggage at the restaurant while you visit the Grottes de la Balme (lockers are also available on site)
The restaurant also offers a catering service for individuals as well as local communities and businesses.
