Temporary closure of the Buzet Forest and the Maison de la Biodiversité.
This oak forest on the outskirts of Toulouse is the perfect place to get started with outdoor sports and to discover the riches of the forest environment.
Marked discovery trails (for walking, cycling and horse riding),
Access to the entire Buzet departmental forest is prohibited, both day and night, from Thursday 25 June 2026 until the ‘very high’ (red) forest fire danger level has ended.
The risk of forest and vegetation fires has risen sharply due to scorching temperatures, combined with very dry air and soil.
In order to ensure the safety of visitors to the Buzet Forest and to protect the natural forest environment, and following the prefectural order, we have decided to temporarily close the forest.
The Maison de la Biodiversité is also closed due to the red heatwave alert on 25 and 26 June throughout the day (10am–6pm).
Spanning the first two alluvial terraces of the River Tarn, this oak forest is what remains of the woodland that, in the Middle Ages, stretched as far as the hilltop village of Montjoire. Various trails allow you to explore this forest on foot, on horseback or by mountain bike.
Following a decision by the prefect, after a cull to control large game and prevent road accidents, access to the forest will be closed to the public on Thursdays 30 January, 13 February, 6 March and 27 March from 7.30 am to 12 noon.
