The 27th Marché aux Cucurbitacées is back on the 3rd weekend in October in Roussay (Sèvremoine), for a festive, gourmet and solidarity weekend in the colours of autumn! For over a quarter of a century, this unique event has brought together young and old in a warm and friendly atmosphere, while supporting an essential cause: improving the daily lives of the 39 mentally handicapped residents of the Mauges Activity Farm.
On the programme, a veritable festival of the senses: 164 varieties of squash - pumpkins, butternuts, coloquintes, giant pumpkins and rare specimens - to admire, taste and take away. Gourmets will love the homemade soups, wood-fired fouées, chips, sandwiches and other local delicacies. The farmers' and crafts market will showcase the skills of local producers and designers, offering authentic, handmade products.
But first and foremost, the Cucurbit Market is a community festival run by 300 enthusiastic volunteers. Every visitor, through their presence and their purchases, plays an active part in defending the cause of disability, encouraging social integration and promoting living together.
So come and share a unique moment where conviviality, good food and solidarity come together to offer everyone an unforgettable experience. Over the course of a weekend, let yourself be carried away by the magic of autumn and the richness of cucurbits: a not-to-be-missed event in the Mauges and Choletais regions!
