Parc et jardins du château d'Autigny-la-Tour

Description

It is reached by a double staircase whose staircase, enhanced by an elegant 18th-century wrought-iron railing, is also framed by two Louis XV-style fire pots.
Opposite, in the center of a flowerbed adorned with century-old topiaries, stands a statue of the Nymph Erignie, holding the traditional boar's head in her hands.
A few paths lead to a grove housing a former ice house and factory.
One of these is clearly inspired by the Canope at the Villa Adriana in Tivoli. It appears in a preparatory watercolor drawing of a Romantic-inspired design for the park, circa 1870. This redevelopment only got off the ground with the digging of the basins and the creation of the walkways. This reference to the canal that linked Alexandria to the Nile was probably inspired by a trip to Italy. It was probably during this trip that the small white marble ephebe placed in the center of the terrace parterre was brought back.
