CERTIFICAT D'ETUDE COMME AUTREFOIS-AUTREFOIS L’ÉCOLE

Our motto this year will be to take part in the fun.

There will be no prize-giving, just a simple presentation of the work appreciated the next day.
Until 1970, taking and obtaining the Certificat d'Etudes (CE P or Certif') was the high point of elementary school education (12 to 14 years depending on the year).

The exam was officially abolished in 1989.

But in Fontenay, the Autrefois l'école museum team makes a point of offering a similar examination, usually in October: this year on Saturday 8 October from 1.30 to 5pm in classroom 93 Jardin des Jacobins.

Some students are reluctant to come and face the tests on offer, which are taken from the examination books and chosen to avoid the fear of forgetting and failing. But the dreaded moment is always appreciated by our candidates.

Authentic subjects, at an average level, with no traps, taken from the exam papers: dictation; questions; writing; problems and mental arithmetic; short history/geography/science questions.

Free and open to everyone aged 14 and over...
But places are limited to 12!
