Anne-Françoise Touanen grew up in Brittany.
She then studied languages in Munich.
Alongside her work as an official translator and interpreter, she held a number of exhibitions in Germany between 1989 and 2006.
Since 2005, the artist has lived and worked on the Ile d'Yeu.

Nourished by the marine and architectural environment of the Ile d'Yeu, Anne-Françoise Touanen frames her oil paintings in solid, luminous abstract and monochrome layers, in a search for balance between dynamics and purification, chance and finality, and a dialogue between materiality and spirituality.
