L'Eure tranquille - jardin d'artiste

This artist?s garden is hidden away in a small village south of Évreux in the heart of Normandy. Created ex nihilo on land steeped in history, from the Neolithic to the Allied landings, Engelmarie Sophie, painter-sculptor, created this garden in 2016. An authentic, unclassifiable garden based on the artist?s works inspired by history and linked to nature, and as she says, "nature is my master". Colors, shapes and the vagaries of life demand constant adaptation and humility in creation. Painting, sculpture and works on rice paper bear witness to this approach. From April to October, the garden and studio are open to the public by appointment for small and large groups, with an exhibition by a guest artist every year. Special events are also organized, including concerts, readings, artistic performances and introductions to rice paper painting.
