Les Roches de Reculé

There were 360 rocky obstacles along the Garonne. The Roches de Reculé at Tonneins is the most important. In the 18th century, the heyday of navigation, there were numerous accidents and shipwrecks. In the 19th century, a navigation channel was built on the left bank to facilitate the passage of transport boats and, 800 meters long, to bypass this insurmountable obstacle, which today is the delight of thrill-seeking kayakers.
