Mentioned as early as the 11th century, Arros was one of the most important villages in the Pays de Nay during the Middle Ages. It was the seat of an influential Béarn family, the Barons of Arros. The barony was also a vast territory, initially covering more than 5,000 hectares, from which were extracted the renowned white stones that illuminate the facades of the church and town hall, as well as many illustrious buildings in Pau and elsewhere.
From the castle to the quarry, this tour reveals the different facets of the barony and village of Arros through the centuries.
