The silo (structure for storing bulk materials) of Riez was built in 1937 and proudly adopts the architecture of its time: like a high ship in the town head, it looks like a small building with a modern style. It is built out of reinforced concrete, a material which is inexpensive, healthy and fire resistant. Details were thorough. Its construction was seen as a major event by the people of Riez. Many years later and higher up on the plateau, new "grain sheds" were built and certified as heritage of the 20th century.
