
The dam called Gréoux is a hydroelectric project on the Verdon put into operation in 1967 and located halfway between the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and the Var, in the towns of Esparron-de-Verdon and Saint-Julien le Montagnier. It allows a water reservoir with a volume of 80 million m3 with Esparron Lake. The building belongs to EDF and provides 170 million kWh per year and also feeds the Canal de Provence. It is an earth dam 260m thick at the base, 67m high and 220m long.
