The Sainte-Baume massif is made up of a Mediterranean south-facing side and a mountainous north-facing side, whose central part has been protected for more than 2000 years. It boasts a wide variety of environments: limestone ridges with low vegetation, an agricultural plain with crops and grassland, and several-hundred-year-old beech and oak forests. A water reservoir for Lower Provence, it gives rise to numerous rivers and features an exceptional geological heritage.
