Description
The almond tree has pinkish-white flowers that appear before the leaves. The first fruit tree to bloom (February / March), he announces the arrival of spring. The almond, "amendo" in Provençal, is from Western Asia and was established in Provence in the 5th century. before JC. It flourished in the Middle Ages, with its introduction into traditional cuisine. Since the 1956 freeze, its production has declined sharply, but today initiatives seek to restore it.
