Balcon à encorbellement
Description
Corbelled balcony - 18th century - Limestone.
This type of corbelled balcony, or "trompe l'oeil", of which many examples remain in Bordeaux, features a false vault with a load-bearing structure. As in many cities, the 18th century marked a break in urban architectural style. Half-timbered houses disappeared in favor of vast neo-classical mansions.
