Commandante mantel - Renaissance - Castillon limestone.
A few preserved elements in the house probably evoke the existence of a former noble house. The origins of the dwelling can be traced back to a feudal motte at the top of a hollow valley, overlooking the road that runs alongside the Durèze river. According to tradition, the local knight welcomed pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela via Auriolles and Saint-Ferme. The place may have been run by Templars or Hospitallers, as in Saint-Antoine-du-Queyret, often confused with the former. This chimney, known as "de la Commandante", may have been used during the pilgrimage period.
