Eglise Saint-Pardoux

Description

Built in the 13th century, the church was restored in the 19th century. The current bell tower-porch dates from the 19th century, but the lower part of the original double-arched bell tower-wall can be seen to the rear. The original portal has been preserved, its triple voussoir supported by a frieze-chapiteau depicting double human heads. Two modern chapels have enlarged the nave. Inside, the furnishings include :
> A 16th-century polychrome wooden piéta
> A 17th-century wooden Virgin and Child, once covered in gilding
> 2 painted, gilded and silvered 18th-century adoring angels
> altarpiece with 2 statuettes
> painting of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple
The MH-listed tabernacle dates from the mid-18th century and is known as the "Massillon tabernacle", after the bishop of Clermont who came to stay at Chard every summer (private property)
