Eglise Saint-Laurent

Description

The Eucharistic cupboard was probably commissioned by the Curé de la Chaussade, Matthieu Bourdet, in 1661, as evidenced by the initials MB.C and the date painted in ochre on the bottom left of the right-hand side panel. The author remains unknown. This trapezoidal tabernacle features painted representations: St. John on the right and the Virgin Mary on the left. Christ is depicted on the door.
A set of 5 statuettes were restored in 2007: they appear to be the remains of a vanished tabernacle. They feature 2 angels missing an arm, St. Laurent, a St. Bishop and a Virgin and Child. A bust of Christ and a bust of the Virgin in painted and gilded wood are also said to come from this piece. The bust of Christ is believed to be a reliquary bust. These 2 items were restored in 1992.
