This soberly designed garden is conceived as a floral setting. A judicious balance of colors, volumes and textures of foliage is intended to sublimate the architecture, in this case the Sacristy of the Collegiate Church of Saint-Gengoult. The building is well worth a closer look. Built in the mid-13th century, the collegiate church was completed in the early 16th century. Its Gothic architecture is strongly inspired by the Cathédrale Saint-Etienne, just a few hundred meters away. In addition to its sumptuous cloister, which is a must-see, the Collegiale Saint-Gengoult boasts the finest program of 13th-century stained glass in Lorraine.
It's a cool, soothing and serene space, with 45 different plant varieties, which completes the green fabric of the medieval town center, originally very mineral.
