To the south of the church of St. Eloi are the remains of part of an important Gallo-Roman villa discovered in 1850 and excavated in 1903-1904. The ruined building, with a rigorous general plan, has an opening in the façade of the vast central hall and a gallery to the east, and perhaps another symmetrical one to the west. These architectural features are typical of Gallo-Roman villas in Aquitaine, the best known of which in the Gironde are those of Plassac and Saint-Emilion. The archaeological material discovered during the excavations is kept in the Louis David municipal museum.
