Église de l'Immaculée Conception

eglise

Description

Église de l'Immaculée-Conception, Catholic place of worship. Above the church door is a bas-relief featuring the coat of arms (including a papal tiara) of Pope Pius IX, who proclaimed the dogma of the Immaculate Conception in 1854. Stage on the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela (via Lemovicensis). A metal scallop shell is embedded in the roadway at the intersection of rue Notre-Dame and rue Jacques-Jasmin.
Before the Michel-de-Montaigne bridge was built, pilgrims reached Sainte-Foy-la-Grande by ferry and, where possible, by ford112.
