Description
Built in 1828 of Bourgeais stone, this pretty covered washhouse features two large basins: one for washing and one for rinsing. The washerwomen conversed so much here that the washhouse was renamed the "Chambre des députées" (Chamber of Deputies)! Water for the washhouse came from the fountain just a few steps away. The water then flows into the port.
