The Ciron is a peaceful river that rises in the north of the Landes region and flows for around 100 kilometers before joining the Garonne. Nicknamed "the river of castles", the Ciron is lined with an exceptional castral heritage.
Every autumn morning, the Ciron meets the Garonne, creating a fog that envelops the valley and bathes the Sauternes vineyards. This phenomenon, followed by sun-drying in the afternoon, encourages the development of Botrytis cinerea, or noble rot, which gives the region's wines their unique concentration and aromatic richness.
Hiking enthusiasts will find numerous trails along the Ciron.
For a more leisurely stroll, the Belvédère du Ciron interpretation trail offers a breathtaking view of the river and its natural environment.
