
Legend has it that Pope Julius II slept in this house when he visited Verdun to free the city's bishop, a prisoner of the French king. However, the latter died in 1513, whereas the house dates back to 1533! One hypothesis is that an earlier house, built of wood and cob, stood on the site of this elegant Renaissance-style mansion, and that it did not survive the ravages of time. The house was listed as a historic monument in 1926. Winner of the Loto du Patrimoine 2023, it is currently being restored....
