Description

Small museum presenting the life of the village in the past.
Restored traditional Vallorcine house dating back to the early 18th century, located in the hamlet of Barberine, near the Swiss border. The house is home to various souvenirs of Vallorcine life in the past. Discover traditional objects...
The theme of the 2025 temporary exhibition is: "Life in Barberine over the centuries".
In the early 18th century, Barberine was home to 9 farming families. We know the houses, the land, the bread oven and the mill. In the 19th century, the waterfall attracted the first tourists. In 1852, a hotel was built, followed by a school to prevent avalanches on the way to the main town... When Barberine became part of France in 1860, roads, trains and the Emosson dam arrived...
