Saint Martin Church

Description

Originally a castle chapel, this Romanesque church, linked to the former castle by a vaulted passageway, appears to have been built in the late 11th or early 12th century. Major restoration work was completed in 2023.
Comprising a blind nave, it was enlarged and doubled, probably at the end of the 12th century, with the addition of two bays forming a Romanesque choir and forechoir.
Geometric and floral decorations in the choir. Alignment of saints in the nave.
The church features a fine octagonal baptismal font used for parish baptisms, bearing the shield of Seigneur Jehan Brechet (Gules, three spikes Or).
