The Hotel Frugès, located on the Place des Martyrs de la Résistance, was built for the industrialist Henry Frugès by the Bordeaux architect Pierre Ferret between 1912 and 1927.
Henry Frugès, who was passionate about art and architecture, wanted to make his hotel "a small museum of the arts and techniques of the early 20th century". His sumptuous and eclectic tastes mixed Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Orientalist influences to create a unique work, to which many of the most representative artists of the time contributed.
His small garden is a reflection of its creator, a lover of architecture and sculpture, of the Orient and of ancient forms. "I drew up the plans and planned the decoration down to the last detail", said Henry Frugès (1879-1974).
